Mazda MX-5 Cup Race #2 - SEBRING

This weekend at the historic Sebring International Raceway, I got to compete in the second race of the MX-5 Cup season with Spark Performance.

On Wednesday, we had practice 1, 2, and qualifying. In practice 1, I had ABS failure, causing my tires to lock up in every braking zone, resulting in an early retirement. Then, in practice 2, I was able to build back some confidence in the car, getting me ready for qualifying.

Unfortunately qualifying was cut short by a red flag from an incident in T17. With poor initial track positioning and only a few laps, I ended up P26.

In Race 1, I got a great start and began making moves up the grid early in the race. Gaining 7 spots without a full course yellow, I ended up P19, putting me on the podium for Top Finishing Female.

In Race 2, I started P20. Throughout the race, I struggled with the setup as the track got hotter. With two full course yellows, I ended up in P17.

I got Top Finishing Female in Race 1 and got my best results so far in Race 2. I am proud of how far I’ve come, but I’m not satisfied. I know I’m capable of so much more, it’s all a matter of experience and getting comfortable in my car.

I want to thank my dad, my mom, Brad Little (my crew chief and mechanic), Bryce Cornet (my driver coach), Spark Performance (my team), Coble Enterprises, Late Model Restoration, Palmetto Galleries, Smart-energize, and Ribtect for their support. It takes a dedicated team to produce champions in this series. Now it’s up to me to do the homework off track to come back even stronger.

Next up, Laguna Seca in May!
