Speedsportz Finale Race

This was Sally’s last race of the Speedsportz Greater Houston Championship. With a lead in the points, Sally was confident that she would wrap up the year on a good note.

For qualifying, Sally decided to draft behind Bryce Frank, as draft is worth at least half a second on the 0.8 mile track. She ended up off pole, only 0.001 of a second behind Frank.

Then in the prefinal, Sally got a great start and pushed Frank all the way up until the half way mark. She decided that leading the last part of the race would put her in the ideal position to take the win.

I passed him when I saw the “half race” flag because I knew he would pass me on the 2nd to last lap. Then I would be able to pass him on the last lap while he tried to block and take the win.

Then, with two laps to go, Frank passed her for the lead. Sally waited for the last lap to make her move. When he defended his corner, killing his momentum, she went up high, got a better run, and was able to cross the finish line only half a kart length ahead of Frank.

Starting on pole for the main event, Sally got a great start and lead with Frank pushing her until the 3rd to last lap when he took the lead.

Then on the last lap, Sally made the pass for 1st on the last corner and ended up crossing the finish line almost side by side with her opponent, taking the win.

This weekend was the best way I could’ve ended the season. It was an amazing run with some really awesome people and super tight competition. It feels amazing to be able to take the win because it definitely wasn’t easy. I’d like to thank my dad, all of my sponsors, and everyone who has supported me along the way. This year was the highlight of my racing career!
