Amarillo - TSRS Race 4

This weekend, Sally and her team traveled 10 hours to Amarillo in order to compete against some of the best Lo206 drivers in Texas.

Friday

On Friday, Sally spent her 5 practice sessions learning the track and testing different setups. In her second practice session, she was already up to speed and running with the locals.

Saturday

On Saturday, Sally qualified 6th with her drafting partner Ethan Wolfe. Then in the first heat race, Sally got into an incident on the start, causing a shoulder injury and a set back of a few positions. On the last lap, a passing attempt by another driver caused a second incident sending him off into the grass and giving Sally a limp. Despite the bad luck, Sally stayed optimistic and hoped for better results in the final.

It was definitely a rough race. On Sunday morning, I woke up with a bruised arm and a limp from the incidents. However, I kept my head high and made the best out of the situation.

Sunday

In the second heat race on Sunday, Sally managed to get a clean race and finished 6th.

Then in the final, Sally got a good start, but unfortunately was involved in another unavoidable incident. This left her with a bent axle and caused her lap times to progressively get slower. Then on the last lap, she was given a “blocking” penalty despite the officials agreeing that it shouldn’t have been given in the first place.

This weekend was filled with lot of bad luck. It’s not all bad though, because I did get to experience a new track and learn some valuable lessons. I’ll just use this weekend as motivation to do better at the next race!
